Produce Category Buyer

The Produce Category Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the fresh produce category to ensure high-quality products are available for our customers.

This role requires strategic vendor negotiation and effective category management to optimize product selection and pricing.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies for fresh produce that align with company goals.
Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and terms for produce purchases.
Manage relationships with produce suppliers to ensure consistent quality and availability.
Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to inform product selection and category strategy.
Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams to promote fresh produce offerings effectively.
Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to reduce waste and improve turnover rates.
Conduct regular reviews of vendor performance and adjust sourcing strategies as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in procurement or buying, with a focus on fresh produce or grocery categories.
Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management.
Knowledge of category management principles and practices.
Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software.
ERP/MRP system usage and comfort using is ideal.
