Prepared Foods (Grocery) Manager
The Prepared Foods Manager will be responsible for overseeing the prepared foods category, ensuring optimal product selection, pricing, and promotion strategies, with the aim/goal of enhancing customer satisfaction and drive sales growth by managing vendor relationships and ensuring quality standards are met in alignment with the company's objectives.
THE IDEAL candidate for this role will bring with them experience with FULL PRODUCTION KITCHENS and ideally experience with the FOOD SERVICE industry and scale/scope....This is food production on a MASS SCALE and the challenges that you will face, will be similar to your previous experience, if you have done this before!
As the Prepared Foods Manager, you'll be in charge of making sure everything in the prepared foods department runs smoothly. This includes the cafe, kitchen, grab-and-go items, hot and cold food bars, bakery, packaging, and sanitation. Your main goal is to ensure we offer high-quality, safe, and delicious food while hitting our sales, margin, labor, and customer service targets.
You'll oversee the daily operations, making sure all areas are efficient and up to our standards. Quality is key, so you'll ensure all our prepared foods taste great and meet safety protocols. Managing inventory is also part of the job, so you'll keep an eye on stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and maintain good vendor relationships.
Leading the team is a big part of your role. You'll hire, train, and supervise staff, schedule shifts, and manage labor costs. Customer service is crucial, so you'll handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues quickly.
You'll also develop and implement sales strategies and promotions to boost sales and meet financial goals. Keeping an eye on the budget is important, so you'll monitor sales, margins, and labor costs, and adjust strategies as needed. Compliance with health and safety regulations, especially food safety standards, is a must.
To be successful in this role, you'll need a bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field, and at least 3-5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a grocery or retail setting. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential, along with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Knowledge of food safety regulations, strong communication and customer service skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software will also help you excel in this role.
This is a KEY role, but it isn't ONLY for those that have ALREADY HELD a role at this level....this is a role that may be a fit for those with applicable produce supply chain experience, who are ready to take the next step in their careers into a Category Management position.
