We are a manufacturer that has been in business for over 100 years, designing and manufacturing purpose built product lines for many different industries. We are looking for a dedicated Automation Engineer to help lead all technical automation projects. You will be designing, programming, simulating and testing automation machinery and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead simultaneous projects.
- Own responsibility for technical project leadership as directed.
- Gain new knowledge of automation technology and solutions.
- Use engineering knowledge to assess current processes and architect automation solutions.
- Spearhead technology research to deliver state-of-the-art processes and design concepts.
- Work across multiple facilities with separate stakeholder teams and processes.
- Work with project managers to set and manage goals, deliverables, and timelines.
- Communicate project status to management.
- Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests.
- Attend trade shows and vendor visits to become a rounded industry expert on current state of the art technologies and implementation strategies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with automation systems.
- Train manufacturing staff and maintenance staff on new automation systems.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- 3 -5 years of experience with an emphasis in Automation.
- Prior work experience in operations project management, automation project management, or similar areas - including intern or co-op assignments - desirable
- Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
- Comfortable in factory environments
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of LEAN principles
- 20 - 30% travel, domestic and international
- Communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience with automation projects involving metal machining.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
